Lamparina: the party in Vidigal is lit

Fruit of a Cultural melting pot, the party Lamparina (Lamp) illuminates a collective of ideas, which is changing the "look" of Vidigal with  loads of fun, and best of all: culture. Are you in sync?

A collective of ideas, a production company, a group of theatre friends, a space of artistic entertainment, and at the same time, lots of fun amongst a few other stuff. What is this and who is behind it? Surely, must be a very enthusiastic crowd. But in reality the responsible are only five people who won't even fill a van in direction to Vidigal.  The place where this story started: Lamparina, the party that everyone talks about, change the ways of partying (at a slum) : the Lamp is lit al-righty, it's actually burning. At least according to Carol Vaz, one of the "hostess" of the first edition of the Lamparina, last friday 13/01.

Although it was declared as one of the best parties of 2011, and the big promise for 2012, the idea of the party Lamparina started being shaped in 2006, when the group formed by: André Luiz, Carolina Ivancevic, Mariana Quintão, Marcelo Mello and Pierre Santos, started making a party at Vidigal, that united different types of art. That's how the Cultural Pot (Group+Coxia Produções, from Nelson Marcondes and Jonathan Haagensen). “Our desire was to create a space of artistic experimentation and at the same time of entertainment, diverting people from the usual cultural places and force them to go up to Vidigal and meet these astonishing place. A privileged area from the south area" describes Carolina Ivancevic.

“During the three years of existence, the group proved the potential not only from the producers but also that Vidigal is the ideal location for a cultural hub. In 2009, we stopped because we lacked sponsors, but we started again in the end of 2011", adds Carol. Speaking of 2011, the year was quite "agitated"for the collective, besides having taken the sip from the strength cauldron also transformed into a creation producer, the Solos Colectivos, recreated the Lamparina and still add-up to another: LUVidgal. This last is the meeting from the well-known collective Luv, from Nicole Nandes. "The party Luv was a party that we all went and loved, it's a black music movement in Rio and its not only a party. Together, we did the  LUVidigal, that now will have a monthly edition”. explains Carol.

“The "look" of our events, as the party Lamparina, also burdens the producer company character and artistic experience of the members of the group. Besides actores, we all work with scenery, light, figurine, script-writing, production, cinema, television and video creation. Everything involves the creation process. This intimate atmosphere reflects our events. We create a peculiar scenery, a creative lightning, a musical concept that brings the audience together through the artistic and poetic stream." concludes Carol Ivancevic, who also adds that the "humble and cosy" shed at Vidigal will host another event "Summer at the workshop", which will highlight curious parties during all season. The event was already considered, as one of the best 50 events by the Sunday Magazine, of the newspapers, O Globo. It's the heat ..... of the Lamparina, stay lit!

Summer Soul: summer festival?

After bringing Amy Winehouse in its first edition  (SP), the festival promisses to rock the cariocas with Bruno Mars and Florence and The Machine. There are still tickets!

That Brazil is in the route of big international concerts everyone knows. Music stars make sure to come and visit and right after swear their love to the brazilian audience also. However, not even the more enthusiastic could imagine that those awaited shows (late) would be part of the carioca schedule. The fact is that, 2012 barely started, and the fans are already looking forward for their favorite artists, such as Bruno Mars, Florence and The Machine and Dionne Bromfield – attractions of the second edition of the Summer Soul Festival, scheduled to 25/01, at HSBC Arena. To those interested, attention: there are still tickets available.

One of the highlights of the summer 2011, the Summer Soul Festival which started in the paulista capital presenting the muse Amy Winehouse , Mayer Hawthorne and Janelle Monáe (who also performed at Rock in Rio), will return to mark the beggining of the year, and this year the wonderous city will not be left out. Actually, beyond Rio and São Paulo  (24/01), the festival will also take place in Florianópolis (28/01). This second edition, the "summer event" will present again a debut line-up, with Bruno Mars, Florence and The Machine (that althought announced several times didn´t show up at the SWU festival), Dionne Bromfield and Rox. Brazilians, only Seu Jorge and the repertoire of his latest album, entitled Music To Barbeque Vol. 1. (what a mix).

For those who appreciate, it's a good opportunity to go check the hits of the star  Peter Gene Hernandez, A.K.A the famous Bruno Mars. With only two years of career, this boy has already won a Grammy and has been described "one of the most versatile and accessible singers in pop" with more than 10 million copies sold on his first album  - o Doo-Wops & Hooligans, with the single Just Way You Are.
However the really highlight of the Summer Soul Festival is the gracious Florence and The Machine. Lead by the peculiar vocals of Florence Welch, the english band that combines all sorts of genres, from indie rock, rock, folk and soul. Its music doesn't need comments.......

The music of Dionne Bromfield should be a surprise as well, for those who come to check the festival (a bit pricy) closely.  With only fifteen years, the goddaugther of Amy Winehouse sure did took advantage of the opportunities offered by the "soul diva" and, maybe it will even occupy that place in the years to come. If it depends on her talent, there will be no mistake. Since this little girl has already received several complimments and positive feedback for her first album, “Introducing Dionne Bromfield”, whose songs are covers of  R&B, jazz and soul. In fact, the record was debuted by Lioness Records, Amy's label inspired on the classic Motown. We really hope, that this young gal has learn a few tricks from her "godmother".
